Oscar E. Maclin

	Oscar E. Maclin, 84, passed away peacefully July 23, 2002 in a local nursing home.
	Mr. Maclin was born in DuQuoin and spent most of his life in Bakersfield, Calif.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1980.  He was a veteran of World War II and an active member of the disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Order of the Moose and the Eagles.  He also served for many years as treasurer of the Local Letter Carriers Union.
	Mr. Maclin was predeceased by his parents, Zella and Oscar Everett Maclin.  His survivors include his wife, Nadine Maclin; three sisters, Evelyn Bence, Frances Bennett and Roberta Willbanks; a step-daughter, Donna L. White and her husband, Gene White, of Winfall, N.C.; a step-son, Gary Short and his wife, Kay Short, of Bakersfield, Calif.  He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
	A memorial service was conducted at the Mish Funeral Home Oildale Chapel at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 29.  Visitation took place prior to the service at 1 p.m.  Cremation followed and the final resting place was to be determined at a later date.
